Best Bets: IST Semifinals, Thursday Night Football (Steelers vs Patriots)

Table of Contents

If you enjoy the art of punting, make sure you watch the Steelers-Patriots game on Thursday Night Football. The game total is 30 points and the Steelers are favored by six at home.

The Patriots (2–10) have lost five consecutive games. New England had allowed only 26 points in the last three games and lost all three. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson is out with an ankle injury.

The Steelers (7–5) have been finding ways to win despite not doing much on offense. Backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky will start after Kenny Pickett injured his ankle last week in Pittsburgh’s loss to the Cardinals.

The semifinals of the NBA In-Season Tournament take place today in Las Vegas. The Eastern Conference semifinals game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers starts at 5 p.m. ET and the Western Conference game between the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans starts at 9 p.m. ET.

The Bucks are favored by five points and the total is 257.5 points. The Lakers are favored by two points and the total is 230. Here are my best bets for Thursday.

Diontae Johnson OVER 41.5 receiving yards (-115 BetMGM Sportsbook)
Yes, it’s an ugly game and it would be a surprise to see much offense. Mitchell Trubisky likes to target Diontae Johnson, and he did so when he came into the game last week. In nine games with Trubisky, Johnson is averaging 59 yards per game. In the five games Trubisky started last season, Johnson had 12, 10, 11, eight and 10 targets. If Quentin Johnston can get 52 yards against the Patriots, Johnson can get 42.

Trey Murphy OVER 16.5 points+rebounds+assists (-130 BetMGM Sportsbook)
Murphy made his season debut on Friday and played 22 minutes against the Spurs. He had 18 points, three rebounds and one assist. In the quarterfinals on Monday against the Kings, the Pelicans guard had 16 points, two rebounds and one assist in 30 minutes. He is 7-for-18 from three-point range. Murphy will come off the bench, but should play close to 30 minutes in a competitive game and he will shoot. He took 13 shots in each of his first two games.

    Wednesday’s record: 2–1 (+.86 units)
    All-time record: 127–74 (+38.46 units)
